Stabilization of agricultural films is a demanding application for polymer additives. Polyethylene films are expected to last for several years, during which time they may be exposed to harsh weather conditions and pesticides. Nickel quencher additives have been used successfully for many years to meet these difficult requirements.

Nickel quenchers work by quenching the energy generated during the photo oxidation reaction, thereby returning the excited molecules to a ground state where they are less likely to propagate the photo oxidation reaction that generates free radicals, thereby protecting the polymer from UV light degradation, preventing or delaying the degradation of polymers. They are pesticide resistant and can be used to protect agricultural films from UV degradation. Nickel quencher stabilizers can also be used in polyolefin fiber applications.

Since 1989, TINTOLL has actively participated in the development of innovative light stabilizers and application research, and currently has more than 100 specialty products to meet the diverse needs of customers. TINTOLL provides professional formulations for different composite materials. In addition, TINTOLL also provides customers with nickel quencher development services for special applications.

Nickel Quencher: Guardians Against Unwanted Excitement

Nickel Quencher: Guardians Against Unwanted Excitement
  • Excitement Deactivation: These UV absorbers, often comprised of nickel organic complexes, excel at deactivating excited molecules, preventing them from triggering unwanted reactions. This deactivation occurs through processes like energy transfer, electron transfer, or various chemical pathways.

  • Rapid Photostabilization: Nickel Quencher UV Absorbers work swiftly and efficiently to quench the excited state of polymer molecules that have absorbed energy. This helps maintain equilibrium, preventing the initiation of photochemical reactions, making them indispensable for photostabilization.

  • Polyolefin Protection: These UV absorbers for polymers are particularly renowned for their exceptional stabilizing effects on polyolefins. The nickel quencher stabilizer finds extensive use in applications involving films and fibers, ensuring materials remain intact under UV radiation.

  • Excellent Solubility and Wash Resistance: With low solubility in solvents, they are ideal for use in fibers and materials that require resistance to washing. When combined with other UV absorbers like benzophenones or benzotriazoles, they exhibit excellent synergistic effects.
